A Mexican-born artist currently living in the Netherlands, whose work is related to community processes of knowledge sharing and education. For 12 years he has been creating works in context-specific situations, for example in organisations that support indigenous displacement or academic institutions with similar interests. His work uses art historical and conceptual gestures in the form of graphics, moving image, installation and performance. A key medium of his artistic practice is the tequio, a collaborative, community-based, unconditional and voluntary system of work. For eight years, N\u00edvon Godinez has been working with indigenous midwives who have taught him to use dreams as a learning and healing process.<\/p>

The Yaj Got\u00f3j <\/em>project reinterprets the Libellus de medicinalibus indorum herbis<\/em>, the oldest botanical document in the Americas, through the dreams of the Triqui women of San Juan Copala, many of whom are midwives and use their dreams to learn. The exhibit is an ever-changing space lit by sunlight or red light, showcasing 52 plants from the dreams, accompanied by a Triqui poem. The exhibition focuses on plants not included in the original codex.<\/p>
