With P\u00e9ter M\u00e9liusz Juh\u00e1sz\u2019s <em>Herbarium<\/em> (1578) and S\u00e1muel Di\u00f3szegi and Mih\u00e1ly Fazekas\u2019s foundational two-volume <em>Hungarian Herbal<\/em> (1807), the city has long been regarded as a Hungarian centre for botany and the natural sciences. MODEM\u2019s latest exhibition builds on this rich heritage, showcasing Debrecen\u2019s unique natural history collections and sites, including the Museum of the Debrecen Reformed College, the University of Debrecen Botanical Garden, and Hortob\u00e1gy National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MODEM\u2019s latest temporary exhibition explores three main themes: observing the mosaic landscapes of the Anthropocene, reinterpreting natural symbolism, and employing speculative storytelling. From 7 December 2024, visitors will have the opportunity to explore\u2014and rethink\u2014different ways of coexisting with nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The artworks on display were created during the intensive two-week summer workshop of the Debrecen International Artists\u2019 Colony, organised by MODEM for the ninth time in the summer of 2024.
