Zero Years. Slovak Visual Art between 1999 and 2011 from Four Curatorial Perspectives

2012. Mar. 25. - 2012. Jun. 24.

On the one hand, the exhibition provided an exciting insight into the last decade of contemporary Slovak art, which is little known despite the geographical proximity, and at the same time it drew the attention of the domestic audience to the similarities between the Slovak and Hungarian art scene. Examples include the previously suppressed and then institutionalised avant-garde art, the process of dismantling the socialist past and elaborating a national culture, and the ‘postmodern’ (mostly feminist) critique of modern politics and modernist art.
