Aba-Novák. The Barbarian Genius

In 2008, Modem hosted a large-scale exhibition of Vilmos Aba-Novák’s oeuvre, featuring more than 150 oil paintings, numerous graphic works, and panel designs by the artist. In addition to the paintings and graphic works, visitors could also see a scale model of the artist’s contemporary studio and the Hungarian pavilion at the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris. This exhibition was a kind of restoration of the great Hungarian artist, who had long been unjustly pushed into the background, providing a representative overview of his rich oeuvre.
