2024. Aug. 03. - 2024. Sep. 29.

Refik Anadol’s artwork after MOMA in New York, Spehre in Las Vegas, and the Grammy Gala comes to Debrecen at MODEM!

Refik Anadol, a renowned Turkish multimedia artist known for his impressive installations created with the use of contemporary art and artificial intelligence (AI), will be exhibiting in Debrecen at MODEM – for the first time on its own in Hungary. His artwork includes the world’s largest AI artwork at Las Vegas’ Sphere in 2023 and a mesmerizing light show at MOMA in New York. He also created a spectacular stage world that stole the show at the Grammy Gala.

In August, Anadol will bring his magnificent video installation Rumi Dreams to Debrecen. He is a pioneer in AI art applications and has received numerous international awards, with his large-scale works exhibited worldwide. From airports to concert halls, from public spaces to world-renowned contemporary museums, his large-scale works have been shown in venues from Charlotte, North Carolina, to the Venice Biennale, Istanbul, Seoul and Melbourne, and around the globe. Anadol’s exhibition at MODEM will feature a large-scale video work on a 32 m2 led wall, inspired by the famous Sufi Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi, who lived in Anatolia in the 13th century. This exhibition aims to showcase the combination of digital and traditional art to create an immersive experience, allowing for a modern reinterpretation of classical poetry and artworks, fostering a deeper emotional connection with the viewer.

Our main supporters in the realization of the exhibit are Synergy Construction Hungary Ltd. and the Yapi Merkezi.

Additional sponsors include Lounge Media Group, Maison Aux Pois, Special Effects Ltd., Swicongroup, and Wizz Air Holdings Plc.

As part of the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year 2024, announced on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Turkish-Hungarian diplomatic relations, and the 58th Debrecen Flower Carnival, the exhibition of world-renowned Turkish media artist Refik Anadol at MODEM will be a highly significant event.

The exhibition at MODEM is realized through the collaboration of the Municipality of Debrecen, the Metropolitan Municipality of Konya, the Turkish Embassy in Budapest, Refik Anadol Studio, and MODEM in Debrecen.
