Stitching Time – A parallel exhibition by Mariann Imre and Sára Richter

2026. Aug. 16. - 2026. Dec. 31.

Few curatorial approaches could be more compelling than bringing together two oeuvres through stories being written in parallel. Encounters of this kind reveal both similarities between the oeuvres and the relationships that emerge from their differences. Careers unfolding at different times, different life situations and milestones arriving at different rhythms may raise the same questions, while the answers to these questions preserve each one’s specific, non-interchangeable character.

The oeuvres of Mariann Imre and Sára Richter can be read as precisely this kind of parallel. They are threads running side by side: at times drawing closer, at times moving apart, yet ultimately forming a rich pattern. In this sense, stitching time is not only the title of the exhibition, but also a metaphor for the meeting of the two oeuvres.

In Mariann Imre’s works, sewing arranges the material of time into an orderly structure; in Sára Richter’s works, it connects the stories of time to one another. One sews the impossible material, the other the impossible story. Stitching Time is also a snapshot of the meeting of the two oeuvres: two threads arriving from different times cross within it, and from their similarities and differences emerges a shared fabric that reaches beyond both artists’ personal histories.
