MODEM invites applications for its MODEM AIR Residency, offering artists from Czechia, Poland and Slovakia the opportunity to develop new work in a supportive environment in Debrecen, Hungary.

Residency Details
- Duration: 2 months in 2027 (dates flexible)
- Location: MODEM AIR residency in Debrecen’s Great Forest area
- Accommodation: Provided
- Studio: Spacious artist studio provided
- Support: Dedicated support from the MODEM curatorial team
- Public Engagement: Opportunities may include open studios, artist talks, workshops and exhibitions at MODEM Project Space, subject to funding
- Programme: A tailor-made programme connecting residents with relevant local experts and institutions

- Letter of Interest / Project Proposal, including proposed residency dates and objectives
Applicants may also indicate any special requirements, including technical, accessibility, family-related needs or pets.
Accessibility note: The residency building is not fully accessible. Applicants with accessibility requirements are encouraged to provide details in their application so that MODEM can discuss possible arrangements on an individual basis.
Important Dates
- MODEM AIR application deadline: 7 October 2026
- All applicants will be notified by 9 October 2026
- Selected applicants will receive an official letter of acceptance from MODEM
- Selected applicants must submit a separate application to the International Visegrad Fund by 15 October 2026, 12:00 noon
MODEM will provide selected applicants with the official letter of acceptance required for the Visegrad Fund application. Submission to the Visegrad Fund is the applicant’s responsibility.
