We are delighted to share the news that our exhibition, Time Mimicry – The fashion visions of Salvador Dalí and the Hungarian contemporary fashion material of the Museum of Applied Arts Budapest, has won the Exhibition of the Year 2026 Award in the category of exhibitions with a budget of less than HUF 10 million. Presented by the Pulszky Society – Hungarian Museum Association, this prestigious recognition reaffirms the professional success of one of our outstanding exhibitions of 2026.
Our exhibition Time Mimicry, on view from February 22 to May 23, 2026, brought Salvador Dalí’s fashion visions into dialogue with contemporary Hungarian fashion pieces from the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts Budapest. The exhibition explored the intersections of fashion and fine art, while highlighting the diversity of self-expression and creativity through different artistic approaches.
The exhibition was curated by Dr. Judit Horvath, Head of the Contemporary Design Department at the Hungarian National Museum Public Collections Centre – Museum of Applied Arts Budapest, with exhibition design by Kriszta Remete, DLA. We presented works by Tamás Király, Valéria Fazekas, Anikó Németh (Manier), Kriszta Remete, Dóra Zsigmond, Lilla Pápai, Perceptual Thinkers, USE unused, ARTISTA, and Zita Attalai.
Throughout the exhibition, we not only provided a space for fashion and fine art to meet but also created opportunities for shared experiences and artistic dialogue through our diverse accompanying programmes.
Particular interest surrounded the guided tours led by fashion designer Valéria Kocsár and Bence Csalár, who served as the exhibition’s ambassador, as well as the Fashion Festival Debrecen fashion show, where models walked among original drawings by Salvador Dalí.
We also engaged younger audiences through the exhibition. Our nationwide drawing competition, Draw the Future!, received nearly 300 submissions, while our art education workshops and playful MODEMKE cards made exploring the exhibition an engaging experience even for our youngest visitors.
This Award represents significant professional recognition for us. The award highlights an exhibition that made the spring of 2026 memorable by bringing together different artistic disciplines, showcasing diverse creative perspectives, and offering a rich programme of accompanying events.
Our current exhibitions are still waiting to be discovered, and we warmly invite you to explore them. Our November and December programme promises to be particularly exciting, featuring special guided tours led by Kristóf Steiner, Anna Juhász, Adrienn Csepelyi, and Valéria Kocsár, as well as self-awareness workshops with Andrea Csáki, a clinical psychologist specialising in adults. At the end of December, the performance CiciKrisztus will also return to MODEM. The end of the year will mark an important turning point for our institution: due to the renovation of our building, we will temporarily relocate to a new venue following our year-end closure, where we will continue to welcome audiences with a diverse range of programmes in 2027.
