MODEM invites applications for its MODEM AIR Residency, offering international artists from Visegrad countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia) the opportunity to develop new work in a supportive environment in Debrecen, Hungary. 

Who Can Apply 

  • Artists from Visegrad countries: Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia 
  • Disciplines: Visual and mixed media arts, all fields included 

Residency Details 

  • Duration: 2 months (flexible within the 2026 calendar year) 
  • Location: Purpose-built artist studio in a natural reserve near the Great Forest in Debrecen 
  • Accommodation: Provided 
  • Support: Continuous guidance from residency curator Török Krisztián Gábor 
  • Public Engagement: Possibility of open studios, artist talks, workshops, and exhibitions in MODEM Project Space (subject to funding) 
  • Program: Tailor-made program with local experts and institutions 

Application Requirements 

Submit the following documents via Google Form: 

  • CV 
  • Portfolio 
  • Letter of Interest / Project Proposal (include proposed residency dates and objectives) 

Applicants may indicate any special requirements (technical, accessibility, family, or pets). MODEM will consider these and accommodate them where possible. 

Important Dates 

  • Rolling submissions accepted until 12 October 2025 via Google Form
  • Applicants will be notified by the curator no later than 13 October 2025 (all applicants, selected or not; selected artists will receive an official acceptance letter).
